The dispute started when Maureen Lansley, a call handler for AC Taxis, found her car clamped despite being parked in her designated bay outside her flat in a Southend street [in London]. National Clamps clamped her car claiming she was not displaying her parking permit. Up to 20 taxi drivers turned up to blockaded National Clamps employees after word got out. After eight hour stand-off, Ian Saxton, managing director of the taxi company, paid the £80 [US$128] fine for Lansley. (February 11, 2011)
